College Football Picks: Week 2

East Carolina vs. 9 South Carolina (Saturday, 12:21 p.m.)

Seth: SCAR 30, ECU 10 – Marcus Lattimore is a boss, but Jadeveon Clowney will the the player to watch.

Zak: SCAR 31, ECU 14 – The South Carolina offense will have a much easier task this weekend against East Carolina. With Connor Shaw most likely out, Marcus Lattimore will again be given the freedom to run rampant on the Pirate defense.

Kevin: SCAR 27 ECU 13 – It’s pretty obvious who is the top directional Carolina team this year.

24 Florida vs. Texas A&M (Saturday, 3:30 p.m.)

Seth: TAMU 33, UF 21- A&M’s SEC opener at College Station is a grand success.

Zak: UF 24, TAMU 19 – The Florida offense was very unimpressive in their opener against Bowling Green and we have yet to see Texas A&M take the field. The Gator running backs will set the pace, but the SEC newcomers will give the Florida defensive backs all they can handle with their pass-first offense headed by redshirt-freshmen quarterback Johnny Manziel.

Kevin: UF 24 TAMU 23 – should be a great game, I expect Texas A&M to come out firing on all cylinders early. Florida will steal a win in College Station, thanks to a strong second half.

13 Wisconsin vs. Oregon State (Saturday, 4:00 p.m.)

Seth: WIS 44, ORST 13 – Read what Kevin wrote.

Zak: WIS 34, ORST 20 – Oregon State is another team that had it’s opener postponed due to the weather, and that puts them at a disadvantage from the very start. Montee Ball, boi.

Kevin: WISC 31 ORST 10 — Let the Montee Ball Heisman talk begin yet again.

Fresno State vs. 4 Oregon (Saturday, 6:30 p.m.)

Seth: ORE 77, FRES 10 – I like David Carr’s younger brother, Derek, but Oregon is way to dope not to win… big.

Zak: ORE 63, FRES 14 – I’ll have to turn my attention to this game for a few seconds just to see what uniforms the Ducks go with.

Kevin: ORE 42 FRES10 — Oregon might have impressed me the most of any team in week one. Marcus Mariota will be a household name after this one.

Washington vs. 3 Louisiana State (Saturday, 7:00 p.m.)

Seth: LSU 24, UW 18 – Love Keith Price and the Huskies, but LSU’s rushing attack gets the job done in the Bayou.

Zak: LSU 38, UW 17 – Tyrann Mathieu is back in school to prove to his dad he’s not a fool. In other news, the Huskies did a 7-on-7 drill against live tigers in preparation for the game. Barkevious Mingo is a scarier sight for the Washington offense.

Kevin: LSU 49 WASH 6 — LSU and Alabama are clearly the two SEC teams to beat this year. What a surprise!

New Mexico State vs. Ohio (Saturday, 7:00 p.m.)

Seth: OHIO 38, NMSU 21 – I don’t see an emotional letdown coming. The Aggies will put up big numbers, but Tyler Tettleton calls and raises.

Zak: OHIO 41, NMSU 20 – I’m expecting another big game out of Beau Blankenship and for the Bobcat defenders to put the kibosh on Aggies quarterback Andrew Manley, who let the ball fly last weekend, early on. #PackPeden and #SUAC better be trending nationwide by game time.

Kevin: OHIO 31 NMSU 23 — Ohio has a great opportunity to put on a show in front of a packed house at Peden. Aggie QB Andrew Manley likes to throw deep and will likely present some problems for the Bobcat secondary.

16 Nebraska vs. UCLA (Saturday, 7:30 p.m)

Seth: UCLA 24, NEB 17- It’s Brett Hundley’s coming out party!

Zak: NEB 27, UCLA 21 – Cornhusker quarterback Taylor Martinez seems to be gearing toward throwing the ball a lot more this season, and I think that will cause a lot more problems than the damage he did with his legs the last two seasons. The redshirt junior will lead his team from behind for the win.

Kevin: NEB 20 UCLA 17 — I feel that this game is about as much of a tossup as the performance of Taylor Martinez on a weekly basis. He’s good enough today as the Huskers pick up a nice road win.

7 Georgia vs. Missouri (Saturday, 7:45 p.m.)

Seth: MIZZOU 34, UGA 27- Both new SEC teams win their conference openers. Shout out to T.J. Moe.

Zak: UGA 30, MIZZOU 27 – Another team making its SEC debut comes up short after leading for most of the game, as the Tigers eat their own words for describing the Georgia defense as “old-man football.” They’re missing key defensive players in their veteran system, so Aaron Murray will have to lead the Bulldog pro-style offense to victory.

Kevin: MIZZOU 27 UGA 24 — I had to have at least one significant upset. I feel like the atmosphere at Faurot Stadium combined with Georgia’s loss of four defensive starters will push the Tigers over the top.
