NFL Picks Week 15

Danny’s 14 week run atop the pick standings came to an end last week. Can he get reclaim the top spot from Wes this week?

Wes:          (136-71)   (11-5)

Danny :    (135-72)     (10-6)

Garr:          (118-89)   (10-6)

Vikings at Rams

Danny: MIN 27 STL 17 – Adrian Peterson could run for 180 with 15 guys in the box right now, I see him dominating a pretty good Rams defense.

Wes: MIN 20 STL 13- Adrian Peterson continues to run wild on opposing defenses. Yes, the Bears were without some of their defensive stars in last week’s contest, but Peterson racked up a ton of rushing yards on a still-competent defense. I think Peterson will have another big game this weekend en route to another Vikings victory.

Garr: STL 17 MIN 13 – For the first time in six weeks the Vikings will play a team that isn’t in their division. I don’t know how that relates to anything I just thought it was kind of interesting. You know what else is interesting? The Rams still have a shot at the playoffs, and it’s week 15.

Redskins at Browns

Danny: CLE 28 WAS 13 – The Browns defense is stout regardless of who starts at QB for the Browns. I see Brandon Weeden coming out in this game and playing well to calm the naysayers who are still angry about the Browns not trading up for RGIII.

Wes: WAS 27 CLE 20- Yes, I know there’s a possibility that RGIII will not play in this game due to an injury he suffered in last week’s game, but backup Kirk Cousins was able to lead the ‘Skins to an overtime victory against the Ravens. If RGIII plays, the score will not be as close as what I have predicted, and if he doesn’t play, I think Washington still wins against an improving Browns team.

Garr: WSH 27 CLE 21 – The Redskins have won four in a row, sweeping their division then upsetting Baltimore last week in overtime. Could RG3 and Andrew Luck both make the playoffs in their first seasons? It’s becoming more and more likely.

Chiefs at Raiders

Danny: KC 27 OAK 17 – Brady Quinn and the Chiefs have actually been playing pretty well as late, and well the Raiders, have not.

Wes: OAK 20 KC 10- This is arguably the worst game of the weekend. Neither team is any good. I just think Oakland is slightly better.

Garr: KC 21 OAK 17 – I spend Christmas in Kansas City every year with my family, so I might as well get in the holiday spirit now.

Panthers at Chargers

Danny: SD 27 CAR 24- Cam Newton appears to be Superman again and I never trust the Chargers to win two in a row. With that said, I think the Chargers are realizing they can still make the playoffs, I’ll take them at home.

Wes: SD 28 CAR 17- Both of these teams came away with extremely impressive victories last week against playoff-caliber competition. However, I paid more attention to the Chargers since they were playing my Pittsburgh Steelers. Although Pittsburgh only lost by 10 points, the game was never that close. San Diego looked absolutely dominant. The Panthers did beat the team with the better record in the Falcons, but I just think the Chargers are the better team.

Garr: CAR 23 SD 10 – Both came away with shocking upsets last week. I’m glad Carolina beat Atlanta; I called that game. I’m mad San Diego upset Pittsburgh because that meant Norv Turner got too keep his job for another week. Giving this one to the Panthers.

Jets at Titans

Danny: NYJ 17 TEN 16 – Doesn’t MNF seem like the perfect opportunity for the Jets to switch to Tebow and have him lead the Jets to a come from behind victory? This team is only one game out of the playoffs…

Wes: NYJ 23 TEN 20- There’s been nothing but criticism surrounding the Jets all season. Yet, somehow, they remain in the hunt for the AFC’s last wildcard playoff spot. The Titans aren’t very good, so, like last week, I think the Jets can squeak by an easy opponent.

Garr: TEN 9 NYJ 3 – This is on Monday Night Football? Oh how lucky are we!

Unanimous Picks

DET over ARI- “When I was looking at this matchup, I saw that these teams have matching 4-9 records. That came as a surprise to me, the Lions have been playing much better football than Arizona.” -Wes

MIA over JAC- “This is another one of those games this week that is of little importance. Logic tells me to go with the better team.” – Wes

NYG over ATL – “This is the time of year that the Giants typically get on a roll, and as we saw last week, the Falcons may be starting to fade at just the wrong time.”

HOU over IND-  “The Colts have surpassed nearly everyone’s expectations for how they would perform this season. They appear to be a lock to make the playoffs. However, the Texans will be looking to regain some momentum after last week’s beatdown at the hands of the Patriots. Houston wins a close game.”

NE over SF –” The Patriots proved they can play with the best in the AFC, so I don’t see why they won’t beat one of the best in the NFC.” – Garr

GB over CHI – “Chicago’s lost four of their last five while Green Bay has won seven of their last eight. You do the math.” – Garr

NO over TB – “Tampa Bay is first in rush defense but last in pass defense. Now, do you think the Saints are second in the league in rush offense or pass offense?”

PIT over DAL – “Dez Bryant is as valuable to his team’s success as any receiver in the league. The Steelers may be missing Ike Taylor, but Bryant is only going to be able to catch with one hand, advantage Steelers.” -Danny

SEA over BUF – “Normally I don’t pick the Seahawks on the road, but they proved me wrong in that victory over Chicago and that defense is the best in the league.” – Danny

DEN over BAL – “I was saying it for weeks, the Ravens aren’t a good team. Firing their offensive coordinator mid-season only adds instability. I have Peyton Manning in a blow-out.” – Danny

CIN over PHI – “Saw some nice things from the Eagles in their win over Tampa, don’t think they have enough to beat the Bengals who need to win out to make the playoffs.” – Danny
