After hosting the Baymont Inn Invitational in Athens last week, the Ohio women’s volleyball team (5-1) traveled to Bowling Green, Kentucky for the WKU Invitational, where they defeated UNLV (3-3) 26-24, 25-21, and 25-13.
First set, Ohio and UNLV went back and forth. Ohio got on the board first going up 3-0. From that point on, UNLV kept it close, pulling to within one at 14-13. From that point, the Bobcats would go on a 6-0 run. Just when Ohio thought it was over, UNLV responded by going on a run of their own, taking the lead 22-20. It was Ohio’s turn to now answer, and it would tie the game up at 24-24. With it anybody’s ball game, Ohio would end up taking the game 26-24 due to kills by Karin Bull and Katie Horton.
Game two was just as the first, being played within a close margin. Through 22 points, the game was tied up at eleven and had been tied up seven times before hand. Ohio gave itself a little bit of breathing room when they would get a lead of 20-14. Even with the 20-14 lead, UNLV wouldn’t go away, closing the margin to as little as three multiple times. Even with UNLV’s efforts, Ohio would prevail 25- 21.
In set three, Ohio would begin to show its dominance. The game was played close early on being tied up at nine through 18 points. Ohio would then go on a tear from that point on. The Bobcats would close the game out on a 16-4 run, winning it 25-13, and improving to 6-1 on the season.
