Holly Harris (Soph.) knocked home a goal in the 88th minute to give Ohio (7-5-5, 3-3-3 MAC) a victory on Friday over Toledo (5-11-1, 2-6-1 MAC), 2-1. The Bobcats came from behind on the road with two 2nd half goals to win their fifth road game of the season.
Toledo scored first in the 64th minute with a goal by sophomore Angelica Hernandez, but Ohio’s Liz Finley (Jr.) equalized two minutes later off of an assist from Alexis Milesky (Fr.).
Harris’ go-ahead goal was scored on a break-away coming from a through ball from junior Tonya Frasik. This goal was her fourth of the season. “I give credit to Holly,” Ohio head coach Aaron Rodgers said. “To have a breakaway with two minutes left…that’s a lot of pressure, knowing there’s not much time and you have to finish it.”
“Great team game. We didn’t have a great game. We were second best a lot of the night, but at the end of the night, we were best in scoring more goals. They scored, and we showed resilience, and, two minutes later, we equalized and kept fighting and pushing forward,” Rodgers said.
Bobcat Goalkeeper Mattie Liston (Sr.), who advanced to fifth on the all-time MAC record book with 391 career saves, totaled 13 saves on the afternoon. Toledo outshout the ‘Cats 28-9, but couldn’t capitalize on their chances, allowing Ohio to snatch the victory. The Bobcats play their final road game of the season at 2 p.m. Sunday at Northern Illinois.
