In the final game of the 2013 San Juan Shootout, Ohio University women’s basketball team (3-3) was defeated by No. 8 ranked Maryland (7-1) 84-60 early Saturday afternoon.
Sunday’s loss equaled the second straight loss the Bobcats have taken. Yesterday, in the opening game of the San Juan Shootout, the Bobcats lost to University of Illinois 76-67.
The Bobcats were no match for the Terrapins. The Terrapins had their way with the Bobcats on the boards, outmuscling them 48-27 and were much more proficient from the field. The Terrapins shot 30-63 (47.6%) from the field while the Bobcats shot a dismal 19-53 (35.8%) from the field.
In a game that did not hold a lot of suspense, only three Bobcats were able to crack double digits. Lexie Baldwin and Kiyanna Black each ended the game with twelve points while Kat Yelle chipped in with ten points. Meanwhile, the Terrapins had four players equaling or bettering Ohio’s leading scorers in the point column.
After back-to-back losses, Ohio will look to regroup as they take on Cleveland State in Cleveland December 5.
