On Saturday evening, the Ohio Men’s Basketball team (6-1) will face the Oakland (MI) Grizzlies (1-7) on the road in Rochester, MI. This game will be the Bobcats’ third home game of the season and their only game of the week.
In their last game, Ohio won in convincing fashion over Evansville, 81-59. The Bobcats won with a balanced attack; four players tallied double digit point totals, but no one exceeded 13 points.
Oakland comes off their first win of the season, an 86-51 drubbing of NAIA school Rochester College. Oakland led by 15 at halftime and expanded their lead by outscoring Rochester by 20 in the second half.
The Grizzlies are led by 6’5″ senior guard Travis Bader. Bader averages 22.3 PPG and shoots 42% from three. He and leading rebounder junior Corey Petros (7.9 RPG) will look to keep the momentum from their first win going.
Don’t let Oakland’s 1-7 record fool you. This team has faced some significant non-conference opponents including North Carolina, No, 18 UCLA, and No. 19 Gonzaga. After they face the Bobcats, the Grizzlies will take on Big Ten member Indiana (12/10) and host No. 1 Michigan State (12/14).
Ohio’s Maurice N’dour garnered his second MAC East Player of the Week award of the
season for his play in the week of 11/24 – 11/30. During the week’s two games, the Senegal native averaged 16.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 steals per game. His current average of 8 boards per game leads Ohio and ranks third in the MAC.
N’dour and the Bobcats hope to gain their seventh win of the season on Saturday over Oakland. The game tips at 6pm. Coverage is available on the Ohio Bobcats IMG Radio Network.
