The Ohio Bobcats men’s basketball team (12-4, 2-1) goes on the road for the second time in MAC play to take on Northern Illinois (7-8, 1-2).
The ‘Cats are coming off a 20-point victory over Ball State on Wednesday, 71-51. Junior Maurice Ndour led Ohio with 16 points, half of his points coming from the free throw line.
Ndour is currently shooting 75 percent from the line and lead the team in both free throws attempted and free throws converted. As a team, Ohio shoots 72 percent from the line, fourth best in the MAC.
T.J. Hall contributed 13 points in Wednesday’s winning effort, and Travis Wilkins added 10. The two seniors have stepped up for the Bobcats since Ricardo Johnson’s injury. Wilkins is averaging 10.6 PPG in the three games of Johnson’s absence, over five points higher than his season average of 4.9 PPG.
Northern Illinois will attempt to rebound from a 73-64 overtime loss to Kent State on Wednesday. Aaron Armstead lead the Huskies with a double-double of 15 points and 10 boards in the loss.
NIU features a rare freshman leading scorer in Dontel Highsmith. The 6’2″ guard is shooting an impressive 54 percent and averages 10.5 PPG. Highsmith leads a balanced Huskie attack with help from sophomore swingman Darrell Bowie who averages 9.5 PPG and 7.4 RPG.
