Twas the night before Valentine’s Day when all through OU not a Bobcat was drinking, not even a few. The condoms were laid on the table with care, in hopes that Valentine’s Day soon would be there. The Bobcats were nestled all snug in their beds while visions of safe and sober sex danced in their heads.
Fortunately for students, they can celebrate early at a Valentine’s day event called Safe and Sexy, which will take place on the first floor of Baker Center on Thursday at 8 p.m.
Held by Power Gamma, Safe and Sexy is an event open to all students, and there is much to look forward to.
“This is an event put on by students for students. We’re not trying to lecture, we’re not trying to create an environment where they think we’re talking down to students,” said Mathew Hall, graduate assistant for Sexual Assault and Harm Reduction.
Those who attend can look forward to a nacho bar, cookie decorating, mocktails, and something everyone can appreciate: freebies! There will be a latexology presentation which will show students the proper way to put on a condom. Students can also look forward to a Mad Lib presentation designed to address sexual health and healthy relationships.
In addition to this, Marti & Stewie crafts will be hosting their weekly craft night in tune with Safe and Sexy.
Pure Romance reps will also be at the event ready to take orders and add plenty of zest to the occasion with their presentations.
Safe and Sexy looks to create an open environment to discuss safe sex, sexual health, healthy relationships, and drugs and alcohol. The event provides a fun, sexy, and informative alternative to drinking.
“I think it will be a popular event because of the comfortable atmosphere it will offer,” Hall said.
Safe and Sexy will be a night full of free food, free condoms and stacks of sex talk. And who doesn’t love that?
