Ohio Softball split the weekend series with Central Michigan after a 5-0 loss at the hands of the Chippewas Sunday afternoon. Ohio won game one of the series 5-3 on Saturday.
CMU pitcher Morgan Yunker, in her senior season home debut, shut down the Ohio bats with a complete game shutout to pick up her sixth win of the season.
CMU’s offense was credited to the long ball, which started with Carolann Sexauer’s two run bomb in the second inning to put the Chippewas up early. Then it was the two sisters for CMU adding the rest of the offense. Chelsea Delamielleure knocked a two run bomb of her own in the third inning and her older sister, Cory Delamielleure, went deep with a solo shot to cap off the 5-0 CMU victory.
The lone bright spot for the Bobcats came from the freshman Lebanon Warrior graduate Casie Hutchinson. The young third baseman had her fifth consecutive multi-hit game and has been on fire so far through four conference games.
Through the first four MAC contests this season, Hutchinson has gone 10-16 with three runs batted in and three runs scored.
Ohio will be off until the weekend when they welcome in Kent State for a doubleheader Friday and Buffalo for a doubleheader on Saturday.
Ohio now sits at an 18-14 overall record and 3-1 in MAC play.
