I’ve been back hOUme for less than a week, and the list of things I’ve missed while away has already begun compiling. While to some non-bobcats, OU may just be known as a party school with a crazy reputation, to those of us who bleed bobcat green, it’s so much more.
It’s returning and noticing all the little things that make our school so much more than just a school.
Every time I walk past the aquatic center, it brings a smile to my face because the smell of chlorine was the only reason I woke up for my 8:30 am class in Walter last year.
Seeing confused freshman staring at the campus maps makes me laugh, but also stop to help, because I remember what it was like to be in their shoes.
Realizing that I’m not back in “OU shape” yet, because I want to cry before, during and after walking up the hills.
Developing insomnia and ordering a chillow because I took having an air conditioned room for granted last year.
Watching someone go from disgusted to amazed as they try their first chicken and waffle is an experience everyone should have.
Fighting others for a table in Shively, because there will never, ever be enough seating in there.
Most importantly, being reunited with my fellow Bobcats and best friends to start another amazing year at OU.
Welcome hOUme, Bobcats.
