Volleyball: Bobcats keep forward momentum against Xavier

Another game, another victory.

After starting off the season slow, the Ohio Bobcats have improved their record to 4-3 with a victory over Xavier in Cincinnati.

The first set started out with Xavier going on a 4-2 run, but the Bobcats would answer with a 3-1 run of their own to tie the score up at 5-5.

It continued to be a battle until Ohio was able to pull away and get a 20-15 lead with several service aces and kills by Kelly Lamberti and a kill by Shelby Walker.

Xavier wasn’t about to give up, though, as they fought with a 7-4 run to make the score closer at 24-22. Luckily for the Bobcats, the Musketeers shot themselves in the foot with a service error by Sariah Suryadevara, which secured a set win for Ohio.

The second set was more murky than the first. Never was there a clear cut leader at any single point.

As the Musketeers and Bobcats played out this set, there was a total of five lead changes.

With Ohio leading 24-23, Jaime Kosiorek came in clutch with a match-point making kill. The Green and White headed into intermission leading Xavier, 2-0.

The Bobcats came back to the court with their minds set on a sweep and that’s exactly what they accomplished.

A third set win was not given to Ohio by any means. The score was as close as the previous sets. About halfway through, the score was tied at 13.

From there on, though, Ohio went on a 12-6 run to win the set and the game with a final score of 25-19.

The Bobcats were led by Kelly Lamberti and Jaime Kosiorek, who both had 11 kills during the match.

Xavier was led by Abbey Bessler, who had 14 kills.

Ohio hopes to keep their momentum moving forward with their next match against the Ohio State Buckeyes.
