Field Hockey: Ohio offense goes mute in loss to Indiana

Ohio was unable to continue its home winning streak, losing to Indiana, 1-0.

After being scoreless for the first 45 minutes, Indiana was able to score off its own corner. After a small scramble near the goal, Nicole Volgraf was able to find the back of the net.

Ohio had its opportunities to score, but could not tie the game up.

Defense was once again the key for the Bobcats. After not allowing a goal in its last two games, Ohio allowed only one goal, with Brittany Walker playing a solid game in goal.

Over Walker’s last three games, she has made six saves and has allowed only two goals.

As was the case the previous two games, Ohio (2-4, 1-0 MAC) was able to create chances to score. In the first half, it had four shots, with three of them being on goal.

However, in the second half, the Bobcats were held to only one shot, as well as only one corner.

“It was definitely a tale of two halves,” Ohio coach Neil Macmillan said. “I thought the first half we did a good job of pressuring them and won a lot of corners, and in the second half (Indiana) changed some things and we weren’t able to adjust.”

Ohio’s next game will be at Liberty on Friday. The game is set to start at 3:30 p.m.
