Men’s Basketball: Tulsa comes from behind to defeat Ohio

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane came from behind to hand Ohio its first loss of the season, 90-88, on Friday afternoon. The Bobcats led by as many as 19 points in the second half, but Tulsa gained its first lead with two minutes remaining and held on to win the first game of the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Ohio (2-1) shot 61 percent from the floor in the first half and finished at 51 percent, but suffered a scoring drought of 4:02 that included five turnovers in the games final five minutes. The Bobcats recorded a season-high 23 turnovers in the loss.

Jaaron Simmons led Ohio with a career-high 30 points, eight assists and five rebounds. Kenny Kaminski scored 21 points, including five 3-pointers,and grabbed six boards in the loss. Jordan Dartis added 14 points off the bench.

Shaquille Harrison did it all for Tulsa (3-0) with 31 points, nine rebounds, five assists and five steals. Brandon Swannegan finished with 16 points and five rebounds for the Golden Hurricane.

Ohio will take on the loser of Indiana State v. Norfolk State at 5 p.m. Saturday. A live YouTube stream will be available.
